What Am I Doing Wrong? I Don’t Wanna Look Like A Circus Clown!?

Written on June 5, 2009 – 8:35 pm by admin

Everytime my friend does my makeup for me, i pay super close attention and try to do everything just like she does, cuz i look and feel pretty. When i try to do it myself, i end up looking like me and 12 of my closest friends should be piling out of a little car in the circus.

  1. Blend, blend, blend and the best way is to use a light hand and makeup brushes – try the ones from Merle Norman or MAC. Throw away all those sponge applicators. Apply a bit and build on that. Many high-quality shadows can be used to press along the lashline without using a liner. Liners can be harsh for day time.
The colors may be too bold for you, try something soft. NARS has a great blush color called Orgasm which looks good on most people, and you can apply a bit more if your skin tone needs it.
So I think the key for you is to blend and wisely choose colors, which you can do at the makeup counter with assistance from the pro’s. They love to do makeovers bc it means commissions for them.

  2. Your probably applying to heavy and not blending enough. Put on less than you think your friends did and blend it in, you dont want harsh lines, it should all flow together over your face. Also, are you using the same makeup they used? maybe your colors are to bright for your face. Last but not least, lighting, it may be lower light that your see the makeup your friends did in and brighter light when you do it yourself. Good luck

  3. You just have to remember that with makeup less is more. You don’t need to pile on makeup. Always go for the natural look with neutral colors, browns for example. If anything, just put on a little powder, some light blush on your cheek bones, a lightish brown eye shadow, and maybe some light/nude colored lipgloss. I wouldn’t go any farther and put on eyeliner and mascara because that’s where the raccoon eyes come in!
